Stacy's FruitCake
The
story of this 'World Famous Fruit Cake'
It was 1789, in a little bakery just outside of Prague, Czechoslovakia.
George Felgerlva began blending candied cherries, pineapple, white raisins,
pecans, and walnuts with a brandy emulsion. He folded these into just
enough butter batter to hold the fruits and nuts together. He refused to put
in orange peel, deeming it too bitter, then topped it with jewels of cherries
and jumbo pecans glisteningin a honey glaze.
In 1955 Stacy Felger brought her Grandpas' formula to Sandstone, a small town in East Central Minnesota, opened a bakery.
Today Stacy's son Jim makes that same wonderful fruitcake at Tobies Bakery in Hinkley.
